ALBANY, NH — For more than four decades, Tin Mountain Conservation Center has been defined by the dedication, vision, and leadership of one remarkable individual. Today, the Tin Mountain Board of Trustees announces that Executive Director Lori Jean Kinsey will retire later this year, capping an extraordinary 42-year career with the environmental education nonprofit.

Kinsey first joined Tin Mountain in 1984. Over her four-decade tenure, she has served the organization in nearly every foundational capacity—working as a Teacher/Naturalist, Education and Camp Director, and ultimately stepping into the role of Executive Director in 2017.

Throughout her 42 years of service, Kinsey has truly embodied the mission and values of Tin Mountain. Her profound passion for environmental education, deep commitment to local conservation, and unwavering belief in the power of connecting people with the natural world have shaped generations of students, families, staff, and Mount Washington Valley community members.

As nature continually reminds us, change is a vital part of every season and Lori has decided that it is now her season to retire. While her daily presence will be deeply missed, her legacy is permanently woven into the trails, classrooms, and community programs that define Tin Mountain today.

The Search for the Next Chapter

With Kinsey’s upcoming retirement, Tin Mountain Conservation Center has officially launched a search for its next Executive Director. The Board of Trustees is seeking an ideal candidate who will honor the collective mission of the center and complement Kinsey’s vision for the future, while simultaneously bringing fresh perspectives and exciting possibilities to Tin Mountain's successfully cultivated programming and events.

The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader who holds a deep, authentic appreciation for the unique natural world treasured in this region. They will be tasked with carrying forward the philosophy that Kinsey so often championed: “Nature — there is no better classroom.”
