The Berry Companies Announces the Berry Community Promise

— A New Commitment to Strengthen the Mt. Washington Valley

Company to focus 2026 charitable giving and volunteerism on housing, hunger, and safety services — including new fire department funding in Bartlett and North Conway.

NORTH CONWAY, N.H. — January 13, 2025 — The Berry Companies today announced the Berry Community Promise, a yearlong charitable and volunteerism campaign launching in 2026 to make a lasting difference across the Mt. Washington Valley. The campaign centers on three pillars—housing, hunger, and safety services—reflecting the company’s deep commitment to the community it calls home.

The initiative honors the legacy of Joe Berry, who dedicated a lifetime of time, talent, and heart to the Valley. “Joe believed that a strong community starts with people who show up for one another,” said Paul Durfee, Marketing Director of The Berry Companies. “The Berry Community Promise is our way of carrying that belief forward—to make a better Valley, together.”

As part of the campaign’s Safety Services pillar, The Berry Companies will donate a portion of all 2026 room revenue from its resort properties to the Bartlett and North Conway Fire Department Associations. The funds will directly support equipment purchases and operational needs in the towns where the company’s resorts operate.

This effort follows the 2023 failure of New Hampshire Senate Bill 262, which aimed to increase state support for municipal safety services. “Our police, fire, and emergency crews are the backbone of our towns,” Durfee said. “When critical legislation doesn’t pass, we believe local businesses can—and should—step up to fill the gap.”

The Berry Community Promise will also focus on addressing housing challenges by partnering with local nonprofits to expand affordable housing options, as well as on hunger relief through community food drives, donations, and volunteer efforts across the Valley.

Throughout 2026, Berry employees will receive paid volunteer hours to support local organizations aligned with the campaign’s three pillars.

By investing locally and leading by example, The Berry Companies aim to turn community care into sustained action throughout 2026 and beyond. The Berry Community Promise is more than a campaign—it’s a commitment to show up, give back, and move the Valley forward together.
